PICNIC AREA - Take U.S. 19 north from Andrews for 1
mile and turn right on S.R.1505 (Junaluska Rd.) for 5 miles.
Turn right on Forest Service Road 440 and go 6 miles to the
area.
FIRES CREEK - This area offers
excellent trout fishing, picnicking, hiking and camping opportunities.
The 25-mile Rim Trail follows the ridge around Fires Creek
and provides scenic vistas as it winds through several high
elevation balds. Huskins Branch Hunter Camp and Bristol Fields
offer dispersed camping opportunities. Leatherwood Falls Picnic
area has picnic sites, a view of the falls, a barrier-free
accessible trail along Fires Creek. The area is located northwest
of Hayesville off Forest Service Road 422. |
