BALSAM LAKE - Balsam Lake has a picnic area and barrier-free accessible fishing trails and piers. Balsam Lake Lodge is also there. It can be used by groups for meetings or environmental education activities. Use is by reservation only. Contact the Highlands Ranger District at 828-526-3765. Take N.C. 107 to the Tuckasegee Post Office. Turn on N.C. 281. Go approximately 8.75 miles to the Little Canada Community. Turn left on Charley's Creek Road (S.R. 1756). Go 5 miles to Balsam Lake.
