BRIDAL
VEIL FALLS - This waterfall
cascades over U.S. 64 just west of Highlands. The falls drop
for 120 feet and cars can drive under the veil of water.
CLIFFSIDE LAKE
- This facility has a picnic
area, two shelters, a bathhouse with showers, flush toilets,
pit toilets, and a lake for fishing and swimming. The shelters
and bathhouse were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps
in the 1930's. There is a small day-use fee. This area is
4.4 miles west of Highlands on U.S. 64.
CULLASAJA FALLS
- This waterfall cascades
for 250 feet on the side of U.S. 64 just east of Franklin.
DRY FALLS -
You can take an easy walk behind this falls on the Cullasaja
River. The falls is 75 feet high. Cullasaja is the Cherokee
word for sugar water. This falls is located on U.S. 64 between
Franklin and Highlands.
FRANKLIN AREA

- The Gem Museum, Historical
Society Museum, and the Scottish Tartans Museum are in downtown
Franklin.

RECREATION PARK - The park
is located on U.S. 441 south of Franklin. It has restroom
facilities, picnic tables, information on area attractions,
and natural-resource exhibits.
SMOKY MOUNTAIN
WELCOME CENTER - The center
is located on U.S. 441 south of Franklin. It has restroom
facilities, picnic tables, information on area attractions,
and natural-resource exhibits.
VAN HOOK GLADE
CAMPGROUND - This fee campground
has 21 camping sites. Tables, grills, water, and toilets are
available. Showers are available at Cliffside Lake. It is
a short hike to Cliffside Lake or a 1.5 mile drive by the
road. The area is 4.3 miles west of highlands on U.S. 64. |
